In order to cook during cloudy days or night, either auxiliary source of energy is used or some kind of energy storage facility is provided.
If the available stored energy is not sufficient, the auxiliary source of energy is used for cooking in order to ensure that cooking is independent of time and solar insolation.
The auxiliary source of energy like LPG or electrical energy is used for sup- plementing the stored solar energy and it also reduces the time required for cooking as compared to previously proposed cooking systems like box-type cooker.
When power supplied from the storage tank is not sufficient, the auxiliary source of energy like LPG or electrical energy is used.
The proposed method is based on the hybrid utilization of solar energy wherein the solar ther- mal is used to supplement the conventional or auxiliary source of energy and the solar photovoltaic cells that are used to power the pump drives, tracking and monitoring elec- tronics.
